昨夜は、スカラ座でフェニーチェが公演するらしいので行って来ました。
La Didoneというカルタゴの女王と、トロイからカルタゴに逃げ、さらにイタリアに行こうとするAeneasを中心としたオペラで、イタリア・ギリシャ・トルコという地域が舞台となっていて、ギリシャから帰ってきたばかりの私にとって、以前よりも深く入り込める作品でとても楽しめました！（留学前には予想していなかったのですが、地中海世界にはまってきたような気がします。。。）
演奏は、Fabio Biondiが指揮するEuropa Galanteで、彼らのCDはたくさん持っていて、コンサートにも行ったことはあるのですが、彼らがスカラ座でオペラのオケをやるとは思わなかったです。派手さはありませんが、ピリオド楽器による演奏が古典劇に合っていたと思います。

After the San Carlo theatre in Naples another glorious theatre brings its savoir-faire and tradition to the Teatro alla Scala, in the framework of the “hospitality” programme launched by General Manager Stéphane Lissner three years ago. La Fenice has chosen Franceso Cavalli’s La Didone, one of the cornerstones of the operatic genre, which was composed in Venice at the beginning of the 17th century.
La Didone was first performed at the San Cassiano theatre in 1641, almost 50 years before Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, which is the most famous but not the only musical adaptation of Virgil’s character. The librettist Francesco Busenello gives the story a happy ending, while Cavalli gets close to the tragic spirit with his music. Fabio Biondi’s Europe Galante orchestra ensures the quality and historical accuracy of the performance.

トロイ戦争の原因となったパリスの審判（ルーベンス）を載せてみました。エーゲ海旅行のおかげで、ギリシャ神話がちょっと身近になりました。新鮮さと意外な発見があったよい旅ができたようです！
